Hi! I’m S.M. Robertson… aka Sarah. I write books. Mostly sci-fi and fantasy for teens, but sometimes for adults too. When I’m not writing I’m busy playing lots of video games, cooking delicious food, or reading whatever I can get my hands on.
I graduated from the University of Montana with a B.A. in Creative Writing and English Literature, had a short story that won the WRHC Award for Short Fiction and was subsequently published in the 2010 edition of Scribendi, and have been a NaNoWriMo winner for ten years running (2006-2015).
Looking for something a bit more… personal? Well, I’m an only child who grew up in southern Idaho surrounded by sheep and cats. Many of my parents’ friends felt the need to inform me that my long-fingered, delicate hands would be great for helping said sheep give birth. Let me tell you, that is the compliment every teenage girl wants to hear. I escaped to Oregon at the earliest convenience and have lived there happily with my longtime boyfriend ever since.
That whole “growing up in the middle of nowhere” had a pretty big impact on me. In other words, I’m a textbook geek. I love me some science fiction and fantasy. Anime too. And comics. And video games! Some of my all-time favorites are Lord of the Rings, Sailor Moon, and Mass Effect, but really, the list isn’t limited to those three. If it’s nerdy, there’s a good chance I like it (or just haven’t watched/read/whatevered it), so if you ever want to geek out together, feel free to pop over to Twitter and say hi!
